Divine Love

I was reading this article the other day and it was talking about how the word love drastically contrasts with how love is described in the Bible. In most novels, movies, and magazines the perception of love is portrayed as an emotion that has the power make us feel worthy and accepted one minute then the next minute have us feeling insecure, doubtful and have us questioning why we even bother with love if it never seems to last. The Scriptures take that view of love and totally turn it around. In first Corinthians the envision of love is powerfully descirbed:

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, It does not boast.
Love isn't proud, nor rude
It is not self seeking.
Love is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects.
It always trusts.
It always hopes.
It always preservers.
Love NEVER fails.
-1Cor. 13:4-8

Whether it is your first time hearing that or your hundredth it easy to just hear the words but to grasp the depth and the meaning is a whole different story. I think this description of love so powerfully relates to us because it was inspired by God for us, his children whom were made to receive his perfect, divine love. Our fascination with, and the yearning for perfect love has been embedded into our hearts from the beginning. Therefore, it is completely natural for us to be fascinated and want to be loved by a perfect fairytale love. Its only until we think we can receive that same love from anyone other than God is when hurt and disappointment come into play. He is the only one that can love us perfectly. We set ourselves up anytime we seek His love from anything else. It would be like expecting an imperfect boyfriend or spouse to love us perfectly. Were human; between our mood swings, bad days, and the drive of our emotions were bound to fail somehow.

Only until we stop expecting and seeking other things or people to fulfill us, is when we can truly begin to appreciate and be immersed by Gods unfailing, perfect, divine love. Its true, Its real, Its here.

God is love.

Where i belong

I probably just spend about half an hour to and hour trying to decide what i would call this and this title kept ringing in the back of my mind. Where i belong. I named it after a song I heard one night at church. It's one that is really simple but the lyrics are so good. To whoever might be reading this look it up :)

Intro:
Your presence is all I'm longing for, here in the secret place
Your nearness is all I'm waiting for, here in the quiet place
Here in the secret place

Pre-chorus:
My soul waits for You alone
Like the watchmen wait for dawn
Here Ive finally found the place
Where well meet, Lord, face to face

Chorus 1:
Ive finally found where I belong
Ive finally found where I belong, in Your presence
Ive finally found where I belong, its to be with You, to be with You

Bridge:
I am my Beloved and He is mine
So come into Your garden and take delight in me, take delight in me

Chorus 2:
Delight in me, delight in me; delight in me, delight in me

Outro:
Here in Your presence, God, I find my rest
Here in Your presence, God

I think being in high school we tend to get lost in finding where we belong. There is so  many cliques, and pressures that distract us everyday from being our true selves in Christ. There are soo many temptations and opportunities for us to just go with the crowd. I think as humans and especially teenagers we feel a need to feel wanted, accepted and LOVED. Many times we find that need fulfilled in our peers telling us what to do, what to wear and even how to act. Its almost as if we have this script already written out for us and all were essentially doing is acting it out and in the process we loose who we really are and we miss the voice of Jesus saying "YOU follow me". We were created to love and be loved and its only until when we find where we belong is when we can truly know that we are wanted,we are accepted and we.are.loved by a Jesus who delights in us, delights in us seeking him daily, and above all he delights in having a relationship with us.

May we be able to say no to the distractions of this world and may we continue to make Him the center of our lives and not compromise anything to substitute that. And in the process may we find where we belong.
